SEPHIS relocates to the SouthDear colleagues and friends of Sephis, We are happy to tell you that SEPHIS will continue in a new form in 2012. It is only logical that a South-South programme like SEPHIS at a certain moment in its existence, relocates to the South. We feel very fortunate that Prof. Maris Diokno , Professor of History at the University of Diliman, The Philippines, and director of SEASREP, the Southeast Asian Studies Regional Exchange Programme, has accepted to host the SEPHIS secretariat for the next two years in Manila, the Philippines. Maris Diokno will be the new Chair of Sephis. She will be supported by a small secretariat in Manila, a new Steering Committee, and the E-zine team, which will continue its work from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. The SEPHIS website will continue under the same name: www.sephis.org. As soon as Sephis has a new email address we will inform you, for the time being sephis@iisg.nl will remain active. With the move to Manila, the secretariat in Amsterdam will cease to exist. Marina de Regt and Jacqueline Rutte will no longer work for SEPHIS, but Jacqueline can still be contacted until 31 March. Michiel Baud and Shamil Jeppie will step down as chairs. All of us are fully prepared to keep on supporting the new SEPHIS program. We wish all of you the very best and we look forward to many new exciting events and all kinds of new forms of academic exchange in the Global South. We trust that the Sephis will flourish in its new form and we hand it over in full confidence to our Filipino colleagues. Finally we would like to end this message by sending you our best wishes for 2012. We hope that the coming year will be a healthy, peaceful, productive and happy year for all of you.
